Kevin McCarthy will be Majority Leader and Save the GOP

June 12th, 2014

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy is one of those special leaders who comes around maybe once in a lifetime and right now he’s poised to become House Majority Leader.  I predict Speaker of the House will follow.

Perhaps you think this is bit dramatic, but I personally can attest that it’s true.  In fact, I’ve known this for a long time.  Kevin is a personal friend.  I met him in the Young Republican National Federation and served as his Co-Chairman when he ran that organization.  I was able to see firsthand Kevin’s tremendous political skills.  Nobody is better at counting votes and developing tactics.  He possesses an unusually keen political instinct knowing what will and won’t work.

Additionally, Kevin is just a winner.  He is good looking and quite charming.  He has a beautiful wife and two great kids, a boy and a girl. He probably wouldn’t appreciate me comparing him to Barack Obama, but I can’t help but note that he has something in common with the president and that is that they both have a certain rock star appeal. That’s where the similarity ends because Kevin can back up that appeal with getting the job done.  Kevin is brilliant at politics and government whereas Obama is only effective at campaigning.  In every other way, Obama has been a complete disaster.

While I fully expect Kevin to become Speaker of the House someday, I wouldn’t count out a run for the White House at some point. He has an appeal that is a cross between Reagan and Kennedy. That’s Kevin’s decision, of course, but if he decides to go there, I’d fully support him.

With Cantor’s primary defeat, it looks like the party leadership is in disarray.  Kevin will quickly change that.  He has a way of uniting people, even those who may vehemently disagree.

Kevin McCarthy will be stepping in just in time to turn the tide for the GOP.  He knows how to raise money and win elections. He’s a great spokesman for Republican ideas and values.

So fasten your seat belts because Kevin has the luck of the Irish and the stars are aligned for his rise to greatness.

Cantor’s big loss may actually have a silver lining because it gives us our Luke Skywalker before the Death Star is complete.
