Little by little we’re learning what implementation of the Affordable Care Act really means.
Our first exposure to the ACA was twofold. President Obama began by repeating like a mantra that under the ACA if we liked our insurance we could keep our insurance, and if we liked our doctor we could keep our doctor. Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi put the icing on the cake by sharing excitedly that the bill would need to pass so we could all find out what’s in it. It was if we were all watching Let’s Make a Deal and we’d soon learn what’s behind Door #1 if we would only just commit to it for good or bad.
As for the two parts to Obama’s continual promise, in the past several weeks about five million of us have learned that we can’t keep our insurance if we like it because the insurance we like doesn’t exist anymore. Now many of us are finding out we can’t keep our doctor either.
This latter revelation became clear after Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel (Rahm’s brother), an architect of the ACA, added a little caveat to the oft repeated Obama guarantee on Fox News Sunday. According to Dr. Emanuel, evidently, you can keep your doctor, but you may have to pay more for the privilege.
On behalf of the American public, I’m offended.
It’s now confirmed. They really do believe we’re all stupid.
Using the same logic expressed by Dr. Emanuel, here’s some other “revelations” that should excite a lot of you out there if you’re as gullible as the Obama administration seems to think you are.
Guess what? You don’t have to drive that ten-year-old Kia with the balding tires and iffy brakes anymore. Nope, if you pay more you can drive . . . wait for it . . . a Porsche! Yes, if you just shell out several thousand more hard earned dollars you’ll soon be rolling down the street in style.
Tired of living in that cramped ranch style track home in the suburbs? Who can blame you? You’ll be much more comfortable in that 10,000 square foot seaside mansion in Palm Beach. Can’t you just see yourself frolicking with Donald Trump and the gang down there? It’ll be great. Hanging with your new found friends at The Breakers will keep you plenty busy.
What? You say that’s never going to happen?
Sure it can if you follow Obama-think. You can have all of this if you just pay more for the privilege.
Huh? What do you mean you don’t have that kind of money?
Did you just say you can’t even afford your doctor anymore so there’s absolutely no way you can buy a Porsche and a mansion, too?
Hmm . . . that’s really too bad. Maybe that means that Obama’s “promise” that you can keep your doctor isn’t true because unless you’re a wealthy one percenter then you can’t possibly afford to pay the extra money necessary to make that “promise” a reality.
Seems like the “evil rich” Obama derides so much are the only ones who can afford Obama’s “promise” at least where keeping your doctor is concerned.
